The world famous Maiji Mountain grottoes is 50km south-east of Tianshui city,and reputed as "the Oriental Sculpture museum" for its steep cliff, the empty plant and the fine clay sculpture. It is named the four great grottoes in China with Mogao grottoes in Dunhuang in Gansu province, Yungang grottoes in Shanxi province and Longmen grottoes in Henan province. Near the Maiji Mountain grottoes is the Immortal's Cliff named for the haunt of immortals, where many hills stand facing each other and is the best place for sight-seeing with the Buddhism, Taoism and Confusianism. Inside Tianshui city there are also Fuxi temple, Jade Spring Taoist temple, Nanguo Buddha temple, Liguang tomb, the Giant Buddha grottoes, Water Curtain grottoes, the ancient battlefields and other remains during the periods of Three Kindoms in Tianshui include Jieting Battlefield and Qishan Castle. All of these are the famous tour scenic spots and also the first destination for the thousands of tourists from home and abroad.
